Centaurus High School Bands

Welcome to the home of the Centaurus High School Marching Warriors! We are an award-winning, 4A band program from Centaurus High School in Lafayette, Colorado. Led by Director Aaron Vogelsberg, the CHS Band program also includes Concert Band and Jazz Band, and competes in Winter Guard and Winter Percussion.

Happening Now

Welcome to Bandtober! We've already had a few performances at CHS football games. Our first competition is Legacy Marching Festival on Saturday, Sept. 26. Be sure to check out the weekly Booster newsletter(opens in new tab) with information about volunteering for events below!

Football Games
We have been having a great time at football games so far! Our Middle School Night at the Monarch game on Sept. 18 was a huge success! We are performing at two more games this season. The Dakota Ridge game is on Thursday, Sept. 24 (Superhero theme!) with a 6 p.m. kickoff time. Sign up to help get props or pit on the field here(opens in new tab). The homecoming game against Mountain Ridge (Breast Cancer Awareness/Pink theme!) is Friday, Oct. 9 and kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. Volunteer information for this game will be available soon.

Legacy Marching Festival
We're kicking off competition season at Legacy Marching Festival on Saturday, Sept. 26. Centaurus hits the field for prelims at 1:15 p.m. Keep an eye out on your CutTime messages from Mr. V for band call times. Find more information about the Legacy Marching Festival, including where to park, from the Legacy Bands website(opens in new tab). We still need volunteers(opens in new tab) to help with this competition!

Douglas County Marching Invitational (DCMI)
DCMI is the following weekend, Saturday, Oct. 3. This year, CHS is only performing at prelims, so students can return in time for the homecoming dance that night. Find information about DCMI, including a map of the area, on the Douglas County HS Bands website(opens in new tab). Volunteer opportunities will be posted soon! Note: Parking is a huge challenge at this competition. So be sure to give yourself plenty of extra time to get down to the stadium and find a place to park.

Monarch Marching Festival
Monarch Marching Festival(opens in new tab) is our last competition before regionals. It takes place at CHS, but is hosted by Monarch HS. This is a single-performance competition. Volunteer opportunities will be posted soon!

CBA Regionals
Lots of information about the CBA North Regionals qualifying event is available on the Regionals page(opens in new tab). This event takes a LOT of volunteers to pull off - not including the volunteers we need to get the kids on the field. If you are interested in volunteering to help with the regionals event, check out opportunities here(opens in new tab). More information about volunteering with the band (pushing props, pit, etc.) will be available soon.

Winter Guard and Winter Percussion
It's hard to believe since we are still in the thick of all things marching band, but callout meetings for our winter programs are happening! Visit the Winter Percussion page to find out how to get in touch with WP leaders if you missed the interest meeting on Sept. 17 but are interested in participating.

The Winter Guard callout meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 5:30 p.m. Learn more about Winter Guard.

Volunteer with the Band
We have a LOT of volunteer needs throughout the season, especially at Regionals. Be sure to read the weekly Booster newsletter(opens in new tab) for details. You can also reach out to Holly Welty (hlwelty@gmail.com) with any questions.

Registering for Band, Marching Band, and Color Guard

Are you a parent or student looking for information on Marching Band and Concert Band? Wondering how to register for band next year? Marching Band is a co-curricular class at Centaurus High School. This means every student registered for Concert Band at CHS also participates in Marching Band.

  • Generally, first year woodwind and brass members register for Band 2 (Symphonic Band)
  • Percussion members register for Band 3 (Percussion Class)
  • All Color Guard members register for Jazz Band (Zero Hour)
  • Band 1 (Wind Ensemble) is available to students by audition only

Check out our Band Programs page to explore our curriculum.
